Cave paintings started 30,000 years ago.There are two types of cave paintings. There are petroglyphs, which are pictures carved in stone and there are pictographs, which are pictures painted on stone. These kinds of cave art have been found all around the world.

African weaving is a traditional form of textile art. It came from Africa. Not only are they beautiful but they usually tell a story. Traditionally it was only formed by men but now women were also excepted.
Sculptors
Many were made out of terracotta. People often reported of blood on the sculptures. The sculptures were usually carved or abstracted.

African textiles were the major way of expression were people to describe themselves. They were the most significant contemporary African art.

African masks are the most admired piece of art. For some people it is just a mask but for the artist it is something much greater. They are often used in dance ceremonies.
