Ibn is from Morocco. He was an explorer. His travels are published in the Rihlab. Over a thirty year period he visited most of the Islamic world. He was considered one of the greatest travelers of all time. He went to Mali after leaving Morocco. He was impressed by the dedication the Islam there.He did not like that all woman were not clothed, which was against Islam culture. He transported many slaves and suggested that slavery was a important part of the commercial activity in the Mali empire.
